LACT Programme

The Karlsson Játiva Charitable Foundation through its LACT Programme aims to support organisations and projects in the Andean countries of Latin America in promotion of its second objective of “relief of poverty, distress and hardship and the promotion of education, health and welfare of children and other members of families with children in Latin America”.  Up until 31 March 2023, the programme was delivered through support to the Latin American Children’s Trust which started operations in 2004 with overlapping objectives.  The Latin American Children’s Trust has been dissolved and the LACT Programme going forward will be delivered directly by The Karlsson Játiva Charitable Foundation without change in strategic direction.

All our grant giving is to UK registered charities which operate generally through their own partner networks in our focus countries – Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.  We work with a limited number of partners with whom we have developed long term relationships.

We fund multi-year development projects to maximise the potential that comes with our long-term commitment to the region.

Projects span the areas of Education, Health, Poverty Alleviation and Protection, leveraging the capabilities of our partner organisations in their particular field of expertise and demonstrable effective implementation.

We prioritise projects with practical local implementation and with a high degree of community involvement, often evidencing a method which can serve as an expanded model.  The main methodologies applied tend to be centred around capacity building and advocacy.

We are currently funding projects run by CAFOD, Children Change Colombia, Daniëlle Children’s Fund, Lumos Foundation, Plan International, Save the Children, Sense International, Teach for All Network and World Vision.
